Legally yes: Indonesian police can ask for an IDP with the A (motorcycle) category plus your home licence. Without it you risk a fine at a checkpoint and, more importantly, your travel insurance may refuse to cover an accident. Get the IDP before you fly — it takes minutes at home and cannot be issued in Bali.
It takes about half a day. Traffic is slow, everyone overtakes on both sides and horns mean “I’m here”, not anger. Start with quiet roads around your hotel before Denpasar or the Canggu shortcut, and keep left at roundabouts.
